Captivation by sound
Tango exhibition at the Franziskaner Konzerthaus
A special sound experience was offered to guests at the fully booked Franziskaner Konzerthaus on the occasion of the "Misa a Buenos Aires" tango exhibition. It was performed by the choir of the Schwenninger Rudolf-Steiner school, led by Peter Eisenschmidt and Cuarteto Rotterdam.
Guests were initially attuned to the unusual South American concert evening by the school choir with six South American choralists, who received enthusiastic applause from the public. Cuarteto Rotterdam then struck up an instrumental accompaniment unusual for church music. This classic quartet formation with bandoneon (Michael Dolak), violin (Cordula Welsch), piano (Judy Ruks) and contrabass (Tino Scholz) provided for a unique sound experience, which united all styles of the tango – from traditional through to modern. On the stage, the small tango orchestra conjured for its listeners a tango world brimming with every form of emotion using experience, creativity and fantasy. The musical atmosphere and sensuousness was further strengthened by the dance couple Lucia Nuss and Ariel Gutierrez, who captivated their audience with the utmost authenticity and quality, making the tango truly tangible. "Misa a Buenos Aires" is a composition written by the Argentinean Martin Palmeri. Inspired by the artistic tango compositions of Astor Piazzolla, he created a work that impressively combines the Latin mass with the stylistic characteristics of the tango. Melodic line, harmony and the typical rhythmical structures create an association with South America and its special music culture. The public awarded the artists standing ovations.
